Household invites applications for the position of Part-time Producer (temporary contract)

About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and committed individual to take on the role of part-time Producer (temporary contract), working closely with the Co-Directors, project staff and artists to support Household’s work. This role will be key in assisting the organisation in the delivery of our programme of activities in 2026/27.
The Producer will be primarily responsible for the management of selected projects that are part of our programming. This will include the production and delivery of elements of our residency programme and artists commissions; working with groups of artists and community groups, public realm projects, workshops and events across a range of disciplines and locations.
You will support the smooth day-to-day running of these projects and ensure that they are delivered with care and to the highest standard, on budget, and in a timely manner, while working and collaborating with the Household team and a range of external partners and artists. You will report to and work alongside Household’s three Co-Directors in a supportive, collaborative environment where your input and ideas are valued. As a small, hardworking and passionate team, we work closely together while offering you autonomy over your specific project areas.
This is a one-year, part-time position (18.75hrs per week, equivalent to 2.5 days) with a 3-month probationary period. Working hours at Household are usually mornings, Monday to Friday; this may vary and the post-holder will be required to work some evenings and weekends (with time off in lieu) as the programme dictates. We will provide you with a work laptop and you will do a mix of working from home, site visits across Belfast, and in-person team meetings in Belfast city centre at least twice a week.
Applicants must live in or near Belfast, be able to work on site or from home, and be able to meet at least twice a week in Belfast city centre.

Household is a collectively-led organisation that supports the production of high quality art that connects people and place. We have worked with hundreds of artists to create critical, engaged, site-specific projects experienced by thousands of people in unusual, underused and overlooked public places and neighbourhoods across Belfast.
Originally founded in 2012 by five curators and an artist, the organisation has transitioned from a voluntary-run collective into a staffed and funded, locally embedded and internationally recognised organisation collectively led by an experienced team of three Co-Directors: artist, creative producer and art educator Jane Butler; curator Alissa Kleist; and artist Sinéad O’Neill-Nicholl, who has a background in public administration and the charity sector.

Main Responsibilities of the Producer
The following gives an indication of the main duties and responsibilities of the post. These may change over time:
- Leading on administration, production and management of various projects, ensuring that they are delivered on time, on budget and according to the Household values;
- Managing project budgets and reporting regularly to the Co-Directors;
- Liaising with artists, project partners, local community groups and residents, and the public
- Working closely with the Co-Directors and external partners to ensure projects are visible and promoted effectively;
- Administration, co-ordination and support for Household on meetings, events and workshops, supporting the Co-Directors with coordinating delivery of various projects;
- Develop meaningful connections and strategic partnerships with non-arts organisations, groups, communities and individuals where appropriate;
- Produce research and documentation material for projects when needed;
- Undertake reporting to project funders and, together with the Household team, ensuring that all projects meet obligations to funders;
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Directors.
Essential criteria
– Experience of organising, producing, or supporting arts, cultural, or community projects and events (this can be in a staff role, as an independent practitioner, or in a volunteer capacity);
– Clear ability to manage tasks, track project steps, and manage basic project budgets;
– Ability to manage your own workload effectively within part-time hours;
– Strong interpersonal skills with a care-centered approach to working alongside artists, the public, and partners;
– Proficiency with standard digital tools (Google Workspace) and ability to meet in/travel around Belfast.
– Ability to work collaboratively in a small, collective, supportive team structure
Desirable criteria
– A proven interest in, passion for, or background in the arts in Belfast OR a genuine willingness to learn within an arts-focused and cultural environment.
– Experience of maintaining websites and social media channels for arts or community organisations;
– Access to a car or other form of transport.
Rate of pay
Gross annual pay: £19,500 (£39,000 pro rata)
