Household is a collectively-led organisation that supports the production of high quality art that connects people and place.

We have worked with hundreds of artists to create critical, engaged, site-specific projects experienced by thousands of people in unusual, underused and overlooked public places and neighbourhoods across the city.

Household's artist-oriented and community-focused methods of working create exceptional, internationally acclaimed, locally grown artwork in, for, by and with our city, a place where artists are supported, valued and trusted to impact on society.

We create and advocate for nurturing, collaborative, speculative curatorial spaces where artists are cared for and provided with the time and resources they need to produce the best work possible.

Household is dedicated to research through practice and delivery of art production in the public realm. Our work feeds into future arts policy development and strategic planning for Belfast, creating improved conditions for artists who want to stay, live and work in Northern Ireland and for organisations such as Household to support them to create in and with the public.

OUR TEAM

Originally founded in 2012 by five curators and artists, the organisation has transitioned from a voluntary-run collective into a staffed and funded, locally embedded and internationally recognised collectively-led organisation run by an experienced team of three Co-Directors.
